Technical Path to RICS Membership:
To become a member of
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
you will need to decide on one of four paths to membership status.
One of these paths is called the "Technical route". To get this
level of qualification you will need to pass the Assessment of
Technical Competence (ATC).
Application eligibility:
Anyone can apply
Training process:
This process takes no
less than 2 years, during which time you must document in an
organized fashion the work and experience you've been gaining in
your desired field. After the first completed year you will have a
midterm assignment which tests you on your working knowledge of your
chosen industry. At the end of your second year you will be asked to
submit your assignments which will help prove your competency in
your area of interest.
Lastly you will be
called in front of a panel for an assessment interview where you
will have the opportunity to talk about your submission and field
any questions the panel may have.
Upon successful
completion of the course you can put the designation TechRICS at the
end of your name which simply shows you are a technical surveyor and
a member of RICS.
