Membership: The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors- RICS

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors is a professional
organization that has been recently granted "Designated Professional
Body" (DPB) status. This is a very respectable designation and
requires that RICS adhere to strict policies regarding membership,
training, ethics and basic standards. Therefore getting your
MRICS or
TechRICS is not a
quick and painless process. RICS is a highly respected organization
and it has implemented intensive training programs to ensure its
members are up to date on the latest codes of practice.
Student membership:
If you are currently in
school or University you can apply for student membership. This will
give you access to the members only area of the RICS website as well
as start you off on an important path to education and offer
invaluable networking opportunities. As a student member you will
also be able to visit RICS libraries and borrow books which are not
available to the general public. Best of all, student membership is
free. When you sign up they will send you a card and an information
brochure explaining the benefits of student membership.
Professional membership:
If you are currently
practicing as a professional surveyor / estate agent you might want
to consider one of RICS professional training programs designed to
give you a better understanding of the surveying profession and help
you achieve your highest level of professional excellence.
