What is The
Independent Surveyors Association? - ISA
The Independent
Surveyors Association (ISA) is an independent surveying and
valuation organization that offers help and advice to property
buyers and lenders. All members of the ISA are professional
surveyors and all carry the extension FRICS or MRICS after their
name.
Unlike other trade
organizations the ISA is made up of independent organizations or
sole practitioners who are self employed. No ISA members are owned
by corporations or financial institutions.
Benefits of an
independent survey
Valuation reports
obtained by a mortgage lender will often be prepared by a member of
that financial institution. Many feel, that it is difficult for that
surveyor to be unbiased. Which is where ISA comes in. An independent
surveyor does not have the interests of anyone particular
organization or individual in mind. Instead they set out to come up
with a fair valuation which benefits all parties involved.
