Academic Membership to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS):
To become a RICS member
you will need to gain the academic qualification. This will also be
followed by a two year APC (Assessment of Professional Competence)
program. This qualification is in depth and helps ensure both RICS
and your clients that you are qualified to be a Chartered Surveyor.
It should also be noted
that if you have been involved in teaching or research for RICS you
may qualify to bypass some of the courses. However, this is
dependent on the amount and type of work you are doing within this
field.
Application eligibility:
To be eligible to apply
to become a RICS academic member you must
1)
be teaching or researching information related to RICS for a minimum
period of 5 years.
OR
2)
If you are not involved in teaching you must show that you are
actively involved in researching information that is related to the
surveying profession.
